Hidden Habitats lets students discover, observe and learn about the wildlife already sharing their environment by transforming familiar outdoor spaces into places of curiosity and investigation.
1. Wonder
Students predict which animals may be visiting their school grounds.
2. Investigate
They search for tracks, pathways, shelter, food, water, and promising camera locations.
3. Observe
Motion-activated cameras quietly document wildlife over the following weeks.
4. Reveal
Students examine the footage, identify patterns, and develop new questions.

Species: American black bear

Observations: Three nights after placing our cameras, this black bear appeared to cross a large fallen tree beside a small stream. It paused for just a few seconds on top before disappearing into the forest.
